The Environment section of the Staffordshire Web is the place to find information about a wide variety of County Council activities which contribute to our Quality of Life. These include:

  • planning where major developments should take place across the county, and deciding whether planning permission should be granted for minerals extraction and waste disposal;
  • disposal of domestic rubbish collected by district councils, or brought to civic amenity sites;
  • providing a monitoring and testing service to ensure that farm animals are healthy, and our food safe and wholesome.

You will also find information about the County Councils work to reduce the cost and environmental damage created by it own activities, e.g. through efficient energy management and green travel initiatives, and you can access information and advice on how to do your bit to reduce the environmental impacts of daily life.

A local access forum is an independent group set up to advise local authorities, within its area, on the improvement of access to local amenities and land for the purpose of open-air recreation and enjoyment.  Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent and Wolverhampton Councils have joined together to form the Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent and Wolverhampton Joint Local Access Forum.
