Staffordshire County Council has formally adopted a Corporate Action Plan, mapping out a strategy for responding to the challenge of climate change.

It sets the ambitious target of a 60% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions from the County Council's buildings, vehicles and street lighting, by 2050.

It also calls for the preparation of Adaptation Plans, to ensure that the authority can continue to meet the needs of the public during the extremes of weather which may now be inevitable as a result of a changing climate.
