vinvolved

What is 'vinvolved'?

vinvolved is a scheme which will give young people more places to go, more things to do and more people to meet, will make a diifference to the community and provide national recognition for young peopple's efforts.

vinvolved aims to...

  • inspire a million volunteers aged 16-25 years by creating and sustaining a wide range of volunteering opportunities within Staffordshire.
  • place young people into opportunities that interest them or care about or are  passionate about .
  • promote and advocate volunteering for young people.
  • ensure that every young person has the opportunity to volunteer.
  • recognise young people who volunteer and helps them to work towards a nationally recognised v award.

Why volunteer?

Volunteering helps you to:

  • Build your confidence and self esteem by helping you do things you thought you couldn't - even things you thought weren't possible!
  • Make new friends by mixing with new people who are into the same things and form new friendships on the way.
  • Make a difference if you're upset that there is nothing for young people to do in your community. Get vinvolved and make a difference!
  • Improve your chances of getting a job because V on your CV is something employers respect and may help you towards your dream job.
  • Gain new skills and do the things you've always wanted to do

What do I get?

The v awards recognise young peoples' for the volunteering and highlights some of the skills they have learnt during their volunteering experience. You can get a 15 hour award which is offered in conjection with Staffordshire Youth Service and this given after you have logged 15 hours in a voluntary opportunity.

There is also the v50 award which allows young people to log the hours they have done in a volunteering placement and to reflect on the project and identify the impact they have had on their community.

After the v50 award you can move on to the v Impact awards. In this award young people choose which impact award (passions, skills, community, campaigning and leadership) they would like to apply for.

The v thank you award celebrates the young peoples' success through volunteering.

'Been there, bought the t-shirt' v project...

A group of young people from Cheslyn Hay have come to the end of an intergenerational project as part of their v award.  The young people worked with older members of the community to produce a young peoples leaving home survival guide. The elders of the group shared skills and advice gained over many years with the "make do and mend" ethos teaching the young people how to save money and avoid debt when living independently, whilst the young people used their skills in IT to assist in collating the information into a handy booklet.
