The Staffordshire Parent Action Network helps parents and carers of disabled children under the age of 18 make a difference to the services offered to them in Staffordshire. Formed in 2010 with funding from Aiming High for Disabled Children and support from Staffordshire Parent Partnership Service, SPAN are a group of Staffordshire parents and carers who want to collect your ideas and opinions.
We meet on a monthly basis and also attend the meetings of many service providers where we pass on your comments to assist them in providing better services for disabled children. Many services also use our Network and the links we have to feedback decisions made and to evaluate provision at ground level.Since forming in June 2010, the Aiming High Parent and Carer Shadow Board has gone from strength to strength. There is now a strong core membership of ten people who are all working hard to make positive changes for disabled children and their families across Staffordshire.
The Board has a Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Policy and Terms of Reference. Due to family commitments, vacancies on the Board may arise and new members are sought.
SPAN has worked hard to produce a Transfer Toolkit. It is a free interactive downloadable resource which aims to make moving to a new setting a much easier experience for children and young people. Please visit the SPAN website for more information www.span-info.co.uk|
SPAN can only help to make changes if they hear your comments and ideas on services and provision for disabled children. Look at our new website www.span-info.co.uk| to find out more!
