Access Arrangements, Reasonable Adjustments and Special Consideration 1 September 2011 to 31 August 2012
Access arrangements allow learners/candidates to show what they know and can do without changing the demands of the assessment. For example, readers, scribes and Braille question papers. The Equality Act 2010 requires an awarding body to make reasonable adjustments where a disabled person would be at a substantial disadvantage in comparison to someone who is not disabled. Each year the Joint Council for Qualifications publish regulations and guidance. The information may be of use to parents/carers of children who are in secondary education. The full education and guidance can be viewed at http://www.jcq.org.uk/attachments/published/538/AA%20regs%202011-2012%20edited%2011102011.pdf|.

SEN Green Paper
We have recently held seven Parent Focus Groups across the County which were well attended by over one hundred parents and carers. During the sessions we discussed the Government's SEN Green Paper and collated parents/carers views on the key areas including:
-
proposed changes to School Action and School Action Plus
-
personalised budgets for families
-
a single assessment and an "Education, Health and Care Plan" to replace the Statement of Special Educational Needs
-
giving parents confidence by giving them more control over the support they receive
Your views have now been been collated and submitted as part of the SEN Green Paper Parents Response consultation| (word 97 kb)
.
