Changing Schools

Posted on Wednesday 2nd March 2011

Currently applications to transfer school must be made through the School Admissions and Transport Service.

If you are considering changing your child's school it is important that you speak to your child's current school to discuss the reasons why you wish to change schools.

Often issues can be resolved without the need to change schools.

The decision to change schools can have a negative effect upon a child's education and therefore it needs to be considered very carefully.

If after speaking to your child's current school you still wish to change schools you will need to complete an   in-year application form| (294Kb)

The School Choice Advice Service can provide you with further support if you are considering changing your child's school.

If you are refused admission at your preferred school you will have the right of appeal to an independent appeal panel. The School Choice Advice Service can provide you with further advice about the appeals process.
