Management and Financial Services
This division employs accountants, ICT staff, HR professionals, Health & Safety Officers and support staff amongst others. It consists of 5 units.
The JFU provides full financial services to schools and the department; budget allocation; and professional help and advice.
Directorate ICT Development Unit
The unit works with Staffordshire ICT to ensure ICT services and support meets the needs and requirements of the Children and Lifelong Learning Directorate. It operates at a strategic and development level with particular responsibility for monitoring technological developments, providing advice, and engaging and involving key stakeholders in the formulation and implementation of a directorate ICT strategy.
Human Resources (HR)
The HR Unit is a diverse service comprising a range of professions and specialist support to the Corporate Director of Children and Lifelong Learning and to schools and to other divisions.
Its aim is to assist in creating a working environment in which all staff are able to exercise their specific skills in a way that will bring the greatest benefit to pupils and students as part of the process of lifelong learning. Their aim is to maximise staff effectiveness.
They assists schools and divisions in: industrial relations/relationships with trades unions; completion of essential personnel administration tasks; advice on safety issues and staff health and well-being, resolving issues of staff under-performance and misconduct in ways which are both fair and involve the minimum of disruption to the parties, and liaise with internal and external agencies.
External Funding
External Funding provides research, information and training services on funding opportunities, advice and appraisal on funding criteria and financial/contract management services for projects. They offer consultancy support for the development of bids, and liaise with funding partners and other agencies, (District Councils, other SCC departments, local Regeneration Partnerships etc) and with grant awarding bodies and local accountable bodies. They provide a clear and separate set of accounts to satisfy grant body regulations and their audit requirements.
Student Finance
Student Finance provides a high quality service to higher education students dealing with loans, grants and tuition fees. They provide financial help for sixth formers whose parents are on a low level of income. They offer a student support enquiry service and take part in annual visits to local schools and colleges.
