This theme is related to the Every Child Matters outcome 3: Enjoy and achieve. 

The Children's Fund aims to help children do well in school through the following sub themes:

1.      Encourage children and young people to remain in mainstream schooling

2.      Help young people to be employed in activities that increase school  attendance and attainment, self esteem and confidence and increase feeling of citizenship in those young people Neighbourhoods are kept safe for children and young people

3.      Provide resources that ensure children are able to make easier and more successful transitions between schools

4.      Ensure that teachers and other professionals work in a proactive and nurturing way to make school a more positive experience for children and young people.

5.      Provide services to equip children and young people with the skills and knowledge to negotiate their way through school successfully and ultimately make them ready for employment/higher education.

6.      Support and assist families through play activities who are at risk of social exclusion through geographical isolation and who experience the effects of poverty from low income, single incomes and ethnic diversity.

7.      Create opportunities where children and young people are involved in the planning and delivery of activities and where they have appropriately supported decision-making roles.

8.      Create opportunities that encourage parents and carers to take an active role in their children's learning and play through involvement in delivery and/or management of activities.
