The Family Information Services'| (FIS) prime function is to assist parents and carers to find suitable childcare that meets their requirements, sometimes this can be for a parent returning to work after maternity leave or looking for a funded childcare place.
Parents look at a whole range of information before deciding which childminder, pre-school or day nursery maybe suitable for their young child. It has become more evident parents will review the hours a childcare provider is open to meet their working needs, investigate competitive costs for childcare, parents will look at Ofsted inspections, facilities on offer, school pick ups and drop offs with many more questions that need answering.
The FIS help parents with their choices but the service would not be able to do this without the co-operation from childcare providers. Annually the FIS send out an update form to every childcare provider, this form shows providers their current details held on the FIS Childcare Database, we ask childcare providers to update the information on the form and send this back into the service. But there is now an easier way for childcare providers to almost instantly update their childcare information.
The Provider Update website is a self service site run through The Family Services Directory|, here childcare providers can register an account and once approved this will give the facility for any childcare provider to update their own details without having to call anyone.
The process in quite simple, when you register| a member of the Family Information Service Team will email you back confirming your details accompanied with a user guide. From here you can update any information that is not considered Ofsted data, such as registered address, contact numbers, Ofsted age ranges etc.
It is important your details are kept updated, parents and carers are always looking for childcare providers with up to date information and vacancies.
