More About the Centre

Stafford Childrens Centre

Stafford Children's Centre exists for the benefit of all children under five and their families. We form part of the government's desire to see every child reach his or her potential and our aspiration is to improve the outcomes of all young children - with a specific focus on those who need it the most.

As a flagship Centre, our multi-million pound building was purpose-built around the needs of children and families to house a wide range of services under one roof. In this way, we hope that families experience a
'one-stop-shop' .

The following services are available through Stafford Children's Centre.

  • Ante-natal and post-natal services, such as baby clinic, baby massage.
  • Lots of different play based groups for children and their parents, such as Story & Rhyme and Krafty Kidz in different venues.
  • Parenting services on different topics, such as groups about managing children's behaviour.
  • Family Support Services, including Citizens Advice Bureau and an individualised home visiting service
  • Toy Library
  • Nursery which provides day care for up to 10 hours per day, 50 weeks per year. Free early education for 3 and 4 year olds and a small number of free daycare places.
  • Support for local childminders and information about childminder vacancies.
  • Education and training services for adults.
  • Employment service links to Jobcentre Plus
  • Regular healthy walks for the local community.

At the heart of the Centre's values is the provision of high quality information, advice and support and care to children from birth up to school age and their families. We are sensitive and professional and aim to ensure that families get the right service in the right way, at the right time, in the right place.

Families can access a wide range of specialist child health services|||| at the Child Development Centre (CDC) based at the Centre. The multi-disciplinary team at the CDC work together and with other health professionals and outside agencies to assess and provide care for children with developmental delay aged 0-16 years old.

Another important service provided at Stafford Children's Centre is the health and family support activities||||, which are designed to foster and further parental understanding of young children's development and to assist families, who need information, advice, support and encouragement. Health and family support is offered in a number of ways, through a wide range of groups, courses and activities, which make a positive difference to the lives of many parents/carers and their children.

The Centre also runs regular parent and toddler groups and other social groups, events, activities and resources - such as our excellent toy library|||| - for parents and carers who want to meet other people and learn new skills in a relaxed and friendly environment. Most are run on site, some in different venues.

In addition to meeting the needs of local families, the Centre can also assist local businesses and groups by providing a quality and contemporary place in which to hold sessions and meetings. There is a choice of rooms to meet every requirement; from two high specification conference and training rooms, complete with the latest integrated audio visual equipment, to one of our 'family' rooms designed to create a warm, homely atmosphere for those more informal gatherings.
