Parent Support Groups

There are a variety of different support groups to help support families in the community. 

Harvey Girls - Teenage Parents' Support GroupFridays for You

Harvey Girls offers support to young mums and teenage girls aged 14 to 21 years old.  Children are welcome at sessions which offer a range of activities such as Child Health & Wellbeing, Craft, Cookery, Body Image, Positive relationships as well as help and support about parenting.

Sessions are held weekly as follows:

Monday 12-2pm Hill Street Health & Wellbeing Centre, Stapenhill

Tuesday 11-1pm Winshill Neighbourhood Resource Centre

Wednesday 3.30 - 5.30pm Queen Street Children's Centre

Friday 11 - 1pm Winshill Neighbourhood Resource Centre

Dads 4 Dads

Harvey Girls also runs a dads group on a Saturday from 10.00 to 12.00 pm at Winshill Neighbourhood Resource Centre.

Drop in for breakfast and a relaxed atmosphere or for more details call 01283 533449

Burton SNaPS - Special Needs & Parent Support

This is a voluntary support group which is run by parents for parents.  It offers a forum in which parents and families of special needs children can meet in a welcoming, non-judgemental environment to access support, advice and information from the personal experience of others.

Twins Club

A supportive group for families with twins held at Hill Street Health & Wellbeing Centre, Stapenhill - for details contact Melissa on 07970 927554

The group is held on Mondays 10.00 to 11.00am

Neonatal Parent Support Group

This group meets the first Tuesday of every month - referrals only through your Health Visitor or Queens Hospital Neonatal Unit

The group meets at Hill Street Health & Wellbeing Centre on Tuesdays (once a month) 10.00 to 11.30am.

Mothers 4 Others

There is a support group run by mums for mums held at Queen Street Community Centre from 9.30 to 11.30 - the last Friday of every month.

The group supports mums suffering from maternal mental health issues such as depression or anxiety.  Please call or text Tracey for details on 07733 342616.

Support for families with hearing impaired children

This group for families with young children with hearing impairment meets monthly on a Monday, between 3.30 and 5.00 at East Staffordshire Children's Centre.  It is an opportunity to meet with other families and chat to staff from the Hearing Impaired Service.  There are toys and activities for the children and refreshments are provided.  All are welcome and no booking is needed.  For further details contact your teacher of the deaf or telephone the Hearing Impaired Service on 01785 356830
