Management Training

In addition to the management and business knowledge workshops, Early Years & Childcare are supporting management qualifications at levels 2, 3, 4 & 5, which are accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management. There are also NVQ options in management.

There have been significant changes in these ILM qualifications since September 2007.  The re-structuring of qualifications has led to re-naming and adding at each level.

  • The old "Introduction" is now the "Award".
  • The Certificate remains the same.
  • A new "Diploma" has been added (in some cases) to give 3 qualifications at each level of Vocationally Related Qualifications (VRQ).
  • NVQ remains the same.

Early Years can now offer (subject to demand):

  • ILM Level 2 Team Leading Award
  • ILM Level 2 Team Leading Certificate
  • ILM Level 3 First Line Management Award,
  • ILM Level 3 First Line Management Certificate
  • ILM Level 3 First Line Management Diploma
  • ILM Level 4 Management Award
  • ILM Level 5 Management Award
  • ILM Level 5 Management Certificate
  • ILM Level 5 Management Diploma

Although the above courses are available through local colleges, Early Years set up the above specifically designed for the childcare sector with specified trainers.

  • ILM Level 3 Certificate in Coaching for Team Leaders and First Line Managers
  • NVQ Level 2 Team Leading
  • NVQ Level 3 Management
  • NVQ Level 4 Management
  • NVQ Level 5 Management

Other specialist management courses may include

CACHE Level 4 Certificate in Managing Quality Standards in Children's Services (CMQS)

This course provides an opportunity for qualified, experienced practitioners to enhance and develop their knowledge and understanding of the childcare sector at an advanced level. It provides candidates with the opportunity to critically evaluate the processes that need to be followed in order to achieve the highest possible quality standards within their setting. This could include examining quality assurance schemes and the statutory inspection process. It may be used in a range of settings including day nurseries, childminding settings, nursery classes, pre-school playgroups and playwork settings.
