Children's Workforce Development Council
The Children's Workforce Development Council is an organisation, formed in 2006 to address the challenges faced in the children, young peoples and families' workforce. It works to strengthen the quality of this workforce through new training opportunities, career development and flexible career pathways between sectors.
The CDWC works on behalf of around half a million people who work with children in England (other parts of Britain have their own Councils). This includes Early Years and Childcare workers, Social Workers and social care workers, foster carers, Connexions advisers, learning mentors, Educational Welfare Officers, CAFCASS workers and the volunteers who working these sectors. Within Early Years & Childcare they have developed and overseen the development of:
- Early Years Professional Status
- The Qualifications Database
- Support of the Early Years Foundation Stage
- Sector Endorsed Foundation Degree
- Funding for CSR
- Professional Support Package for EYPs
- Induction Standards in all sectors (ongoing)
- Integrated Qualifications Framework (ongoing)
- Quality Improvement Framework (ongoing)
