What is Skills for Life?

Skills for Life is about reading, writing, speaking, and listening in English and using maths at a level which allows you to do every day things and progress at work.

 The Adult and Community Learning Service currently offer 2 non-accredited courses which are run by friendly and approachable tutors:

Get to Grips with English                  

A 12 hour course consisting of:

  • Self-assessing your current skills  
  • Improving your reading, writing, speaking and listening 
  • Learn a range of spelling techniques
  • Develop, plan and draft a formal piece of writing
  • Visit a local college to gain access to more learning
  • Gain a certificate of achievement 

Get to Grips with Maths

A 12 hour course consisting of:

  • Self-assessing your current skills  
  • Improving your confidence in maths 
  • Using maths in a range of real life situations 
  • Improving  your budgeting skills 
  • Visit a local college to gain access to more learning 
  • Gain a certificate of achievement  

How much will it cost?

All Skills for Life classes are free of charge to adults aged 19+.
