English for Speakers of Other Languages

Staffordshire Adult and Community Learning Service offer non-accredited Beginner ESOL classes across Staffordshire.  The course is for learners who may have limited experience of formal education and would like to improve their use of the English language.The course runs over 20 hours in a community venue in your area and are run by friendly and approachable tutors who will support your learning and help you reach your goals.

The course is free for learners who are:                  Teacher and student    

  • aged 19+
  • in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance or Employment Support Allowance
  • have a legal right to be resident in the United Kingdom

There is a £10.00 enrolment fee and no tuition fees for learners who:

  • receive income based benefits 

There is an hourly charge of £3.50 for learners who:

  • Are eligible for Skills Funding Agency funding (as defined in “Learner eligibility and contribution rules 2011/12”, ) but not on benefits

There is an hourly charge of £7.00 for learners who:

  • Are not eligible for Skills Funding Agency funding
