So what does the ACL Service offer?

• Adult Education Classes
As a Service, we offer a wide variety of leisure and accredited courses in venues across the county ranging from colleges, to schools, to village halls.

• Family Learning
Family programmes aim to encourage family members to learn together and for parents/carers to support their children's learning. This could be through a leisure subject, or have a literacy or numeracy focus. We also hope that this will encourage both adults and children to pursue further learning opportunities.

• Residential adult education
We provide opportunities for short residential courses at Pendrell Hall College.  These enable learners to have a concentrated learning experience in their chosen subject in a secluded, rural environment, away from everyday pressures.

• Taster courses
We want to encourage and enable people to participate in adult education, and we do this through offering taster sessions (ranging from two to six hour courses to a whole day event) throughout the year.  We help people who attend these sessions to go onto further learning opportunities if they wish.

• Supporting learning in the community-
We aim to provide learning opportunities in communities as a response to demand and need.  This work is undertaken by our Outreach Workers.

We support adult and community learning groups through advice and possibly financial assistance.

• Community Learning Fund
Grants are available to voluntary and community groups to deliver learning opportunities or for staff development.

• Inclusion
We aim to work with all sectors of the community, whatever their background, individual needs and interests.

• Information and advice
All learners are entitled to information and advice on their present and future learning needs.  This service can be offered on an individual or group basis, and is built in to all of our provision.
