Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills - DIUS - survey enabling Staffordshire's Adult Learners  to have their say !

Staffordshire Adult Learners to contribute to government consultation document.

Adults across Staffordshire are being urged to have their say about learning new things for fun.

Informal adult learning is the topic of a nationwide survey, launched by the Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills, the results of which will inform a major new government policy on the way adults learn for pleasure in the 21st Century.

Staffordshire County Council's Adult and Community Learning Service are keen to contribute the views of adult learners across the county and are encouraging learners to 'feel free to say as much as they like'.

The consultation wants to get people's views on:

• how, where and what they want to learn

• how to make the best use of public funding for informal adult learning

• how Government departments, the voluntary sector and private sector organisations can make informal adult learning more joined up at a neighbourhood level

• how to make sure that access to informal adult learning is fair

• how to engage people who think that learning isn't for them

• how digital TV, mobile phone and internet technology can support informal adult learning

County Councillor Eric Drinkwater gave his enthusiastic support to the venture saying: "This is an exciting beginning to discussions that will lead to innovative delivery of informal adult learning in the 21st century for all learners countrywide, and I encourage all learners to have their say".

This is your opportunity to make sure that the voices of all adult learners in Staffordshire are heard and there is no need to answer every question if there is not a strong view on some topics.

Those who want to submit their views are asked to go to www.staffordshire.gov.uk/education/adultcommunity or telephone 01785 278770 and leave a message for a member of staff to return the call.

All responses must be received by Thursday 12 June 2008.
