Learner Support
Fees
Course charges vary:
- Some are free
- Some incur a small charge (usually £1 an hour)
- Some incur a higher charge
You will be told the course fee before you are asked to commit to any course. The Adult and Community Learning Service (ACL) offers a fee remission policy.
Accessibility
We are working towards providing disabled access to all of our venues. We can also:
- provide materials in Braille or on cassette
- assist learners with additional learning needs
- provide portable and/or fixed hearing loops
To find out more please contact us.

Progression
There are many opportunities for learners to progress not only in their chosen subject, but also onto other courses, for example, courses leading to nationally recognised qualifications. Progression, for some, will mean moving into paid or voluntary employment.
Information and advice on progression routes can be given by members of the Adult and Community Learning Service as and when requested.
Outreach Work
Adult and Family Learning Outreach Workers liaise with their local Community and Learning Partnerships to develop learning opportunities. They:
- contact individuals, groups and families who are least likely to get involved in any form of learning
- plan imaginative ways to help them to participate in learning activities
- provide advice and support to enable progression onto other learning opportunities, volunteering or employment
