Nursery Age Settings
There are a number of Primary, First and Infant schools througout the County that have designated nursery classes. Pupils are admitted to these schools at a single point of entry in the September of the year in which they become four. Places are available on a part time basis for either morning or afternoon sessions.
With effect from admissions in September 2009, some settings will be able to offer increased entitlement and enhanced flexibility. The settings themselves will decide how they are going to operate the enhanced flexibility for those pupils who are offered places during the admissions process.
Further details will be available in the information leaflet that will be provided with the application form for September 2009 admissions.
In addition there are a number of other settings that are run privately that also cater for nursery age children. Further details of these establishments can be obtained from the Children's Information Service on 0845 650 9876.
There are also a small number of schools that offer a foundation stage class. These offer reception and nursery provision in one base with nursery aged children attending either morning or afternoon for five two and a half hour sessions and reception children attending full time.
