Xtinguish and Night Rider

Stafford Youth Offending Service has access to two specialist projects; Xtinguish and Night Rider, these projects have been developed in conjunction with Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service. They are delivered by specially trained and supported Fire Service personnel.

Xtinguish

'Xtinguish' is a partnership which has been established between Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, Staffordshire Youth Offending Service and Stoke-on-Trent Youth Offending Services. Its aim is to address the growing problem of arson and fire related crime.

Young people are required by the Youth Courts to meet with a fire fighter at a local fire station. They are then taken through a series of structured, weekly sessions that get them to understand the error and consequences of their ways. (Ref: www.staffordshirefire.gov.uk)

Night Rider

'Night Rider' is an intervention programme which is aimed at young offenders who have been charged with car crime. Specialist trained staff within the Fire Service will deliver an intensive one to one package specific to the offence committed. (Ref: www.staffordshirefire.gov.uk)
