Citizenships
Citizenship ceremonies are the final step in the process of becoming an official British Citizen. Under the Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2002 all applicants who are aged 18 years of age and over and who are accepted for naturalisation or registration by the Home Office as a British citizen must take a citizenship oath and pledge at a citizenship ceremony.
The ceremony will involve prospective citizens making an oath or affirmation to Her Majesty the Queen and a pledge of loyalty to the United Kingdom. It is possible to have a ceremony at any of the registration offices.
Nationality Checking Service
Staffordshire Registration Service offers the Nationality Checking Service in partnership with the Home Office. This checking service is to assist people who want to apply for British Citizenship.
The aim of the service is to help reduce unnecessary delays in the process of applying for British Citizenship.
