Registering a Birth
By law, registering the birth of a new baby must be completed within 42 days of the birth taking place.
The following information provides helpful advice and guidance on how to register a birth within Staffordshire and covers important issues such as baby naming, parental responsibility, re-registering and what information you will need to register a birth in Staffordshire.
To make this process easier, Staffordshire Registration Services are working with other Government departments to offer a confidential service called Tell Us Once|.
This new service means that you will be able to just tell us once, and then we can tell other government departments and local authority services on your behalf and reduces time spent corresponding with a number of different organisations.
