Unfortunately we have not been able to support as many Projects as we would have liked from the Cannock area. In fact, only one was granted European Union funding - a summary is given below of the Project's aims and achievements.

Project Name: Green Dream
Project Sponsor: Staffordshire County Council
Funding Awarded: £8,144
Project Duration: January 2008 to June 2008
This Project was designed to provide support to unemployed parents with responsibility for the care of pre-school aged children. The support focussed on actions to help prepare parents to seek employment when their children started school. Particular attention was given to developing skills to ensure child-care responsibilities could be successfully managed alongside work commitments. Support included the formulation of personal development plans, drop-in information and advice and on-going mentoring.
Vocational training and practical work experience formed a key component of the Project with activities based around the regeneration of an area of public open space within the Beven Lee Housing Estate in Cannock. Part of the exit strategy was to explore the opportunity to set up a social enterprise to manage the public open space and maintain gardens for older residents.
