'Equalities in the Community' Funding

Introduction

The Equalities in the Community fund is open to any local voluntary or community group within Staffordshire who require financial assistance to support or develop a project which has an equalities theme and fits into one of the following categories:

Community networks

Funding under this programme will be used to help build the collective capacity of voluntary and community organisations, by actively encouraging these groups to link up through local networking and partnerships

Opportunity schemes

Opportunity schemes will provide support for marginalised individuals and groups.  Disability, language and cultural barriers, racism and negative stereotyping can all contribute to this.  Funding will be used for projects, which address the problems and offer opportunities for greater participation in the social and economic life of Staffordshire.

Positive images

Will provide support for publicity and the celebration of achievements of disadvantaged individuals and groups, and the positive contribution they have made, and are making.

The Staffordshire scheme is aimed at 'grass roots' community groups who may not be used to apply for funding. The application procedure is straightforward and applications will be accepted throughout the financial year. However, to allow time for processing, the last date for receipt of applications will be 31st January of that financial year.
