Community Development Team
The principal role of the Community Development Team is to manage and run the Community Watchdog Scheme. This is a team of nearly 600 Staffordshire residents acting as the eyes and ears of their local community.
The Watchdog Scheme was set up in 2001 to help empower local residents to protect their communities from rogue trading practices, scams and bogus callers. It is also gives local residents access to up to date consumer advice and encourages everyone to know their consumer rights.
The Team hold free information sessions for local community groups, the main purpose of which is to raise the profile of the work of the Scheme and Community Services.
Close links with other partners are maintained in order to tackle crime and reduce the fear of crime and the team are often involved in various community based activities.
