Early Help - Helping children and families early

See what early help support is available for parents and carers.

Last updated: 5th March

Everyone needs help sometimes. Families, neighbours and friends can usually help each other, but sometimes families need some additional help, or specific support. This is known as Early Help, as it is about local services and professionals offering information, advice, guidance and support early on to meet children's and families' needs.

Due to the varied nature of life and family needs, many services deliver a range of Early Help. You may already know some of them and potentially not realise what support is available. These are examples of types of services:

Support

To help you with finding what support is right for you and your family, the Early Help Partnership have a directory of services and some useful information and advice available on Staffordshire Connects

There are also a range of groups taking place local to you, where parents and carers can learn from one another and benefit from professional guidance. Many of which are free to access. Some are ongoing groups, others run for a set number of weeks. For information about activities and events are on now, contact your local family hub

Where you have tried new approaches or are experiencing a range of things you need support with at the moment, you can also access one-to-one support from some services. Again, there are a variety of offers dependent on what you need support with. Information about this support can be seen on Staffordshire Connects.

Advice and resources are available for professionals on the Staffordshire Safeguarding Children Partnership
