What does being in care mean?

Being in care (sometimes called ‘looked after’) means you do not live with your family. This can happen for different reasons.

Wherever you live, we want you to feel safe and supported. We will help you achieve your goals and reach your potential.

Have your say

The Voice Project gives you the chance to share your views on things that matter to you. We listen and use your feedback to make services better.

Our promises to you

We have made a pledge to all looked after children, young people and care leavers in Staffordshire.

This pledge sets out what you can expect from us and how we will support you.

Preparing for independence

The Staffordshire Independence Programme helps young people get ready to live independently.

  • It includes 12 modules you can download.
  • It covers practical skills and advice for moving on.
  • Support starts from age 16.

Fostering and adoption

We are looking for foster carers and adopters across Staffordshire.

If you want to make a difference to a child’s life, find out more about fostering and adoption.
