Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) deal with misleading adverts.

Direct Marketing Association (DMA) deal with disputes between members and consumers. You may find a member selling by mail or via newspapers.

Mail Order Protection Scheme (MOPS) - National daily newspapers advance payment protection scheme. Can help if the trader goes out of business.

Mail Order Traders' Association - can help with disputes over mail order catalogue members. Phone 01704 563787.

Trust UK - a non-profit organisation endorsed by the UK Government to enable consumers to buy online with confidence. Members use the e-hallmark.

CitizenCard is the proof of age scheme accepted throughout the UK and Irish Republic in shops, cinemas, pubs and anywhere else you might need to prove your age. Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent editions of the CitizenCard were launched in November 1999.
