Economic Regeneration In Staffordshire
Staffordshire Business and Environment Network
Aimed at providing a network that enables small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to improve their environmental performance, Staffordshire Business and Environment Network is the County's prime source of help and information on 'green' business issues.
SBEN was launched by business for business, providing a membership scheme, which entitles members to subsidised and free initiatives and non-members to other services within the SBEN portfolio. With Staffordshire County Council acting as secretariat SBEN is helping local companies, of all sizes, to meet environmental challenges and to establish and maintain sustainable environmental development.
SBEN helps to raise business awareness through seminars and enhance skills and knowledge through environmental training and counselling. The network also provides practical advice on developing and implementing environmental policies as well as promoting examples of good environmental practice.
The network is constantly looking to improve its services through customer feedback and by benchmarking its performance against other similar organisations.
Recent training events have seen areas such as "Man Management" and "Team Building" covered while future events will include "Health & Safety". These subjects are in addition to the usual environmental topics and show commitment to further improve SBEN's training programme.
By constantly reviewing and refining its performance the Network regularly achieves in excess of 90% satisfaction for its events, and was awarded a prestigious Environmental Business of the Year Award for 2004.
