Safety this Bonfire night

winning posterOperation Good Guy is the driving force behind work on the ground to keep people safe throughout Bonfire night.

The partnership is made up of the county council's Trading Standards team and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue and is designed to deliver a whole host of firework safety messages to the county's residents.

Trading Standards work together with licensed premises to offer advice and guidance on their responsibilities around underage sales of fireworks and work to tackle illegal use of fireworks.

Look out for the Trading Standards registration sticker of authentication when buying fireworks in your local shops.

firework nightDuring the next few weeks the Fire and Rescue Service will deliver a hard hitting presentation in schools that demonstrates the explicit dangers that fireworks can pose to young people. 

To help launch Take care and be aware back in 2010 the Operation Good Guy team asked young people from schools across the county to design the next Fireworks Hotline poster. Download the pdf document winning poster| by Ten year-old Natalie from Holly Grove Primary School.

The Fireworks Hotline is open 24 hours a day seven days a week in the run up to Bonfire Night.  Staffordshire residents can call 08454 02 03 34 for advice and information about fireworks.
