Food Allergens

From December 2014 the law is changing concerning the information that businesses must give to their customers about food. The Food Information Regulations 2014 (FIR) will change the way that you and your staff provide information to customers. Further information is available on the Food Standards Agency website at:

Food Labelling

The EU Food Information Regulation 1169/2011 (FIR) replaces the Food Labelling Regulations 1996. The Regulation came into effect on 13 December 2011 but food businesses do not need to comply with most of its requirements until 13 December 2014. Businesses may choose to comply earlier for example if packaging is being redesigned or as stocks of labels runt out. The leaflet below provides an overview of the key changes that will affect food businesses.

Free childcare for 2 year olds

The Think 2 scheme can grant eligible families 15 hours of free, quality childcare for their two year old every week during term time.

Free childcare for 3 & 4 year olds

A free place helps give children the best start in life and to help prepare them for their school years in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage. The entitlement is 15 hours a week (term time only, some settings may pro rata) for all 3 and 4 year olds in Staffordshire.

Free School Meals

Free school meals are a good way to make sure that your child eats well at lunchtime. By claiming free school meals you save time and money.

Freedom of Information and Data Protection

Freedom of Information (FOI) and Data Protection requests are managed by the Information Governance Unit. The team addresses the creation, management, access, privacy and security of information within the county council.
