County Councillor Mathew Ellis
Volunteers and charities can benefit from practical advice and support thanks to the county council funded Staffordshire Community Works scheme.
The scheme will offer local community and voluntary organisations support to help them develop and grow.
It has been funded by Staffordshire County Council and Staffordshire Social Care Workforce Partnership, and will operate across the whole of Staffordshire through Age UK South Staffordshire. Now, they are looking for twelve groups or organisations that would like to benefit from the support the new programme will offer them.
County Councillor Matthew Ellis, Cabinet Member for Adults’ Wellbeing said: "In Staffordshire, we are revolutionising services to give people more choice and control over the care they receive. This means including more voluntary and community services, and ensuring that they have the right support in place to be able to provide what people want.
"The Staffordshire Community Works scheme has been extended across the whole of Staffordshire following a successful pilot in 2010. It offers support to voluntary and community organisations, from being able to meet the challenges of providing more personalised care and support, to helping develop business management skills.
"This scheme is a great way for organisations to get free support, advice and guidance, and I would urge any organisation to take up this fantastic opportunity."
Nick Maslen, Chief Executive of Age UK South Staffordshire said: "This free service has been designed to help local community and voluntary organisations develop and grow. We’ll work with staff, trustees and board members to identify issues and opportunities and develop sustainable solutions.
We’re now very keen to identify twelve groups or organisations who would like to take up the offer of a tailored, practical programme of advice and support, firmly built around the unique needs of every participant."
