Rugeley Bypass - official launch Saturday September 22, 2007
Thank you to everyone for taking part in the event.
Over 4,000 people from youth groups, businesses, local public services, charities and families descended on the new bypass take part in the festivities.
A massive vehicle cavalcade was at the heart of the celebrations, with a column of gleaming chrome - with over 100 classic cars, lorries, buses, scooters, bikes and other assorted vehicles, followed behind.
There was a strong showing from the local community with Rugeley Scouts and cadets and other community groups joining the colourful procession.
Over 300 people took part in the morning walk along the stunning engineering masterpiece, through the beautiful meadows.
County Council Leader Councillor John Taylor warmly welcomed everyone and cut a symbolic cake - to mark the sweet taste of success for the award winning project. He said: "The whole community came together and has made the bypass come to life. It is their road, their investment."
