The "Valuing People" Government White Paper
The Government's 2001 White Paper about better life chances for people with a learning disability, called "Valuing People", emphasised four key themes of Rights, Independence, Choice and Inclusion. All disability services work to include these principles in their service delivery and promote a person centred approach to care.
The White Paper calls for the modernisation of traditional day services. A modernisation strategy for day services has been implemented within Staffordshire, and a modernisation co-ordinator is in post.
